Strawberry Twist

Simple and stunning with a slightly retro twist is the best way I can describe the Calladream wedding stationery range from Strawberry Twist.  The semi gloss card features a posterized print of a simple bouquet of calla lilies giving a slightly ‘Andy Warhol’ retro feel.  The bride and grooms names and wedding date are printed in the same colour ink and this can be changed to match your theme.  At £2.00 each these invitations are a great price and there is a full set of matching stationery and reception items available.

For a completely eclectic range of wedding stationery, many with a  real retro feel like this one, check out Bijou Woo.  As you can tell from the company name, they don’t do dull or ordinary.  This 50′s Retro range combines sweet pink polka dots around the border with a tattoo style heart in the bottom right corner and costs £135 for 30 invitations.  If you are looking for something different yet want to save money, they have a collection of 3 designs that are sold in packs of 20 for £25 that are pre-printed (like party invitations) so you fill in the details on the dotted line.  Just be careful when filling in pre-printed invitations that you put all the correct details in, when you have filled out 48 invitations it is easy to write the wrong time or date (like your birthday) and have Great Aunt Ida turning up at the wrong time!

Its not such a crazy theme for a wedding stationery range.  If you tap a search for VW camper vans into Google you will be surprised at just how many fan sites, members clubs and forums there are that are dedicated to the funky retro vans of the 60′s and 70′s.  By the way, I am referring to the old style camper vans that you get stuck behind in the slow lane on the motorway and not the brand new variants that VW have recently been designing behind the scenes.  (the new camper vans look no different from your everyday modern commercial vehicle and I considered it inappropriate to include such an ugly image on this page.  Click here to see what I mean if you are that curious)

Anyway, since there are so many people with such a passion for these vehicles it did seem appropriate to bring you the Camper Van Hearts wedding invitation from Confetti Designs.  After visiting some of the aforementioned websites I can see that there must be some couples who have been brought together by their shared love of the camper van and will want to reflect this in their wedding stationery.  The camper van on this design is made from wood so there should be no rust to worry about like the real thing and how reassuring to know that this version emits love hearts instead of polluting clouds of Co2.

Confetti Designs is run by Victoria Lewis and her company has only been trading for little over a year.  There are some very original designs on her site so I am sure the business will continue from strength to strength.

Vintage style wedding invitations seem to be all the rage at the moment and many designers are dabbling with art deco of the 30′s through to the emerging glamour styles of the 50′s.  Never before have I come across a wedding invitation designer with such a passion for an era.  Rebekah Daley is an artist inspired by the Vogue fashion plates of the 1950′s, an important era in the fashion world as designs moved quickly away from the rigid controls of the 1940′s towards the flexible hedonistic 60′s.  For me, 1950′s was all about glamour and Rebekah conveys this style perfectly through her range of original sketches.

Rebekah offers a couture service for couples looking for something truly unique.  Your own individually designed invitations to add a personalised touch of glamour to your wedding.  Your invitations could feature you and your fiance in designer evening wear, dancing or sipping champagne.  The cards could feature a retro bride and groom or perhaps a favourite Hollywood icon from the time.

You can extend the glamour theme through to your reception stationery with delectable place name shoes with can be embellished with some crystals for some added glitz.  Rebekah Daley promises a relaunch of her site in the summer when we can expect new place card designs including elegant top hats, vintage Bugatti cars, mini handbags and stunning hat boxes.  I cant wait.
