Wedding Writes - A Letterpress Flavour
I came across the new Wedding Writes website this morning. I thought I had stumbled across a US website for letterpress style invitations because it has the look and feel of so many wedding invitation sites from across the pond. On further investigation I see that Wedding Writes is an offspring of the Paperplain website which operates out of London. Of course, the .co.uk domain should have given it away instantly but then it is early morning and my 4 year old son has had me awake for the past 4 hours.
Despite the look and feel of a Lettterpress website it does not appear that any of the Wedding Writes designs encompass the Letterpress printing technique. This is a great pity because many of the traditional designs in their portfolio would lend themselves beautifully to the tactile feel of Letterpress. I wont dwell on this minor dissapointment because the designs that I fell in love with instantly tended to be more contemporary.
The Lace design in particular grabbed my attention due to its intricacy. Despite seeing so many laser cut invitations since they first made their way into the UK market about 5 years, a well executed design such as this never fails to amaze me. The shimmering pearlised card stock is used as a backdrop to the fine laser cut floral design. The satin ribbon finishes the design beautifully. The invitations are £4 each and you can request a sample pack of up to 3 designs for £8.50 which is redeemable against a subsequent order.
